Important Online Banking Secutirty Updates In order to better protect our members from potential fraud, we have made some changes to our Online Banking Security Preferences.
Effective December 1, 2020, you will no longer be able to choose email as an option to receive a Secure Access Code.
What is a Secure Access Code?- A Secure Access code is a security feature that authenticates you when you login to Online Banking from an unregistered device (or a device you have not logged in from previously). This is a required security feature of Online Banking to protect you from unauthorized individuals accessing your account.
How does this new change affect me?- If you currently only have an email address listed as your Secure Access Code delivery method, you will need to login to Online/Mobile Banking and enter your preferred phone contact information under Settings>Security Preferences>Secure Delivery (this contact information will be used for Secure Access Code delivery only).
Note: These changes do not update the delivery preferences used for your Security Alerts and your contact information. For instructions on how to update your Security Alerts and your Contact Information, click here.

While we're on the subject of online safety, our partners at BALANCE have some tips for you in regards to creating strong passwords and why they are important. Passwords keep your online accounts walled off from invading hackers who want to seize your private data. Without strong passwords, your accounts are left vulnerable and exposed. Hackers can have a field day ransacking your confidential information.
Here is some advice for creating a strong password and keeping your information protected:- Diversify Your Online Passwords — Repeatedly using the same password over again puts you at risk. When hacking occurs, cybercriminals can gain entry to every account with that password. In 2019, Google warned that 65% of internet users have the same password for multiple accounts. In this instance, recycling is a bad idea. Bolster your security by picking different passwords for every personal and professional login.
- Choose Creative Password Combos — Secure passwords are complex and alphanumeric. It's harder for hackers to guess random combinations of letters and numbers. Sewing together nonsense strings of letters and digits is best. Avoid using common words, such as "shopping" or "beach". Instead, mash passwords into a soup. Blend lowercase and capitalized letters to make it even more challenging, If allowed by the website, add symbols too. Haphazardly placed punctuation, including # and &, can help. Like "$h0pp!ng" or "B3@ch".
- Keep Passwords Completely Impersonal — In today's digital age, everyone makes so much private information public online. A quick social media search could probably turn up your birthday, hometown, age, and family's names. You likely love posting about your lovable pet on Instagram. Therefore, making that pet's name a password might make it easy to figure out. Hack-proof passwords usually should have no connection to your personal life.
Following these internet security tips to pick hack-proof passwords will make sure your accounts are shielded.
